Tackifier resin
Tackifier resin is a type of small molecule compound that can improve the viscosity of rubber materials, especially surface viscosity. The relative molecular weight of these compounds is usually between a few hundred to ten thousand, and they have a high glass transition temperature(softening point is generally between 60-150 degrees Celsius). They are mainly used for rubber materials lacking self adhesiveness, such as styrene butadiene, butyl, ethylene propylene, cis butadiene, etc.By adding thickening agent resins, the viscosity of these rubbers can be significantly improved, making them easier to process and apply.
As a modifier for polymers, tackifier resins are rarely used alone. In most cases, they are used as compounding agents to increase polymer adhesion, improve initial viscosity, and reduce operational or processing viscosity. In the production process of rubber products and tires, tackifier resin is one of the indispensable blending materials.By selecting and using different types of tackifier resins reasonably, the viscosity of rubber materials can be adjusted according to specific production needs, thereby producing high-performance products.
In addition, the tackifier resin can also be subjected to hydrogenation and other chemical modifications according to specific application scenarios to further improve its stability, heat resistance, and aging resistance. These modified tackifier resins have wide applications in various fields such as adhesives, rubber and plastic industry, ink and coating industry, etc.
